Clairefontaine Pastelmat Paper is a 360gsm / 170lbs Pastel Card that is made from fine particles of cellulose fibers to give a coarse surface with a fine tooth. This surface has the ability to grab and hold multiple layers of pastels, even the softest of pastels.
Pastelmat is a very high quality Pastel Paper that is suitable for Soft Pastels, Charcoal and Pastel Pencils. You can also use Pastelmat with wet media such as acrylics and watercolour as it is water-resistant, or for mixed media techniques.
The velvety surface of Pastelmat gives better adhesion, retaining the pastel pigment without the need for heavy fixing in between layers, while still allowing for fine detail to be achieved. This means that your pastel colours remain vibrant and is what makes Pastelmat a very popular paper choice with Pastel Artists.
Pastelmat Paper has the added bonus of being gentle on both fingers and blending tools and you can rub out areas of pastel or wet the paper and it will retain its original properties.
Clairefontaine Pastelmat Card is acid free and lightfast and comes in a range of colours. Each sheet measures 50 x 70cm.
All paper and card is carefully sent flat packed (NOT ROLLED) so it arrives to you in perfect condition.
