Winsor and Newton Drawing Inks are fast-drying shellac-based inks with added dyes to give brilliant colour strength. These transparent inks are available in 26 colours and can be used with a brush, airbrush or dip pen for a wide variety of uses. The inks are intermixable, and can also be layered to produce outstanding colour effects and mixes.
.
Most of the inks in this coloured range are water-resistant with the exceptions of Liquid Indian, Gold and Silver. These particular colours are not made using dyes and are therefore slightly different to use than the other colours. Black, White, Gold and Silver are the only inks that are lightfast, so if any of the other inks are used within artwork, be aware that too much light exposure can cause these inks to fade. None of these inks are suitable for fountain pens due to the presence of shellac in every colour.
Liquid Indian ink comes from the Chinese stick ink and is therefore water-soluble and not permanent.
The Winsor and Newton Drawing Inks are ideal for lots of uses, including Calligraphy, Drawing, Writing, Sketching, Washes, Illustration, Design work, Crafting and Airbrushing.
