This Pastel Pad contains 12 sheets of White Clairefontaine Pastelmat Paper. It is suitable for soft pastels and pastel pencils and is very popular with professional pastel artists.
Clairefontaine Pastelmat Paper is a 360gsm / 170lbs card that is made from fine particles of ground up cork to give a coarse surface with a fine tooth. This cork surface gives better adhesion, retaining pastel colours without the need for heavy fixing in between layers while still allowing for fine detail to be achieved.
Each page of the Pastelmat Pad is interleaved with crystal paper to protect your pastel drawings and to stop the pastel colours from being transferred to the back of the previous page.
The pad is glue bound at the top and available in the following sizes: 18 x 24cm, 24 x 30cm and 30 x 40cm.
Pastelmat is a very high quality Pastel Paper and acid free. You can even rub out areas of pastel or wet the paper and it will retain its original properties.
